Ordination
AIHT’s degree programs prepare the student who desires to serve as a minister for ordination as an interfaith minister. Upon graduation from AIHT, graduates become eligible as candidates for ordination. Candidates who choose to be ordained are required to complete the ordination program and attend the retreat and ordination ceremony. The retreat enables these graduates to network and meet members of the AIHT faculty, alumni, and administration. It is also an opportunity to celebrate your ordination with family and friends. Only AIHT graduates are eligible for this ordination.

As an ordained interfaith minister, you can provide spiritual counseling; perform weddings and other rites-of-passage ceremonies, and “laying-on-of-hands” using alternative therapies. Ordained ministers are eligible to become recognized and, where applicable, registered as clergy. Since laws vary from state to state, AIHT recommends that graduates check with their state and local governments before providing these services as part of your ministry.

Vocational Choices

While no school can give you your life’s direction or calling, AIHT offers you the tools for self-exploration necessary to clarify your own objectives. Because this is an interfaith school, your studies may be as far reaching and open as you would like. But its breadth does not diminish its depth. In fact, what you’ll find at AIHT is substantive coursework that can assist you in developing confidence in your own spiritual gifts and interests, so that you can determine and/or affirm with greater clarity the direction for your life.

An interfaith education lends itself to informative exploration and experiential learning. Through this exploration and experiential dynamic students may become well acquainted with the topography of the interior world, thus developing confidence in their own ability to impact the world.

Some come to AIHT with an existing career for which they seek enrichment. Others come with a career option in mind, but for which they seek clarity of intention. Still others may want to apply themselves to an area of interest in order to find a specific direction. Whatever the case, AIHT offers a curriculum that gives you, the student, the intellectual, spiritual, and practical stimulation to discover and develop a rewarding career. The career options in the field of interfaith ministry and holistic service are wide, varied, exciting, and rewarding. As you join in the process of self-discovery, you begin to create your own destiny.

“An intense interest in religion and spirituality is emerging in our culture today. With that interest comes a desire for both knowledge and experience in religious thought and practice. AIHT offers the seeking student a challenging and thorough opportunity to explore theology and ministry from the many expressions of faith in our world. I am pleased to share in the mission of AIHT.”
