The Real Meaning of Human Service

AIHT congratulates Susan Stubson, founder of Minnesota-based Collaborative Healing Institute, as our 2007 Yozwick Memorial Scholarship winner.

Susan Stubson was enrolled in a traditional bachelor’s program in human services when severe chronic allergies led her to reclaim her health by researching the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. When Susan found AIHT, she enrolled in metaphysics and ultimately earned two bachelor’s degrees concurrently!

“AIHT helped me develop and enrich all of my relationships—with loved ones, coworkers, and myself. Metaphysics strengthened my faith, encouraging my belief in unconditional love and a universal connection with others.

“This led me to serve our hospital’s spiritual care ministries; also to learn healing touch and chakra rebalancing therapies—which of course continued to empower my healing. As a school project I created a business plan for teaching aromatherapy and healing touch within a hospital community wellness program, and these ideas have been well received.”

In 2006 when a degenerative bone condition threatened Susan’s ability to continue working onsite, inner resilience led her to discover and implement new solutions. She now telecommutes, serving as a bereavement counseling volunteer.

As the recipient of AIHT’s 2007 Yozwick Memorial Scholarship, once again Susan has become a dual-student. Along with her master’s studies in metaphysics, she is also enrolled in an advanced program for healing touch.

“These skills help me refocus and develop a more disciplined mind. With better goals for myself, I can encourage others to embrace better health and create a new life.”
