AIHT Graduate Crowned Mrs. Montgomery County International 2000

Maria Ethel Shircel, D.D., M.A. was crowned as Mrs. Montgomery County International 2000 on December 10, 1999. Maria Shircel, an Army Career and Alumni Program counselor, will represent married women from Fort Campbell and Montgomery County in the Mrs. Tennessee International Pageant in June.

“Maria is a great representative of Montgomery County,” said Clarksville Mayor Johnny Piper. “She does remarkable things for the community and her family.”

Shircel will compete with other married women in evening gown, personal interview and physical fitness. The titleholder will serve the community during her reign in some form of civic activity and will choose a platform or special issue about which she feels strongly. “I chose teen violence,” Shircel said. “Our youth are so very important. They are our future leaders.”

A mother of three married to Jerome Shircel, Maria believes her experience with the military will help her represent the community well. “I have learned so much from being a part of a military family,” Shircel said. “Deep in my heart I appreciate and truly admire the servicemen. Even in my job as an ACAP counselor, I interact with soldiers and family members on a daily basis.”

Shircel stays active in the community by volunteering for several organizations. She is a Cub Scout den leader, a lector and eucharistic minister for her church and a volunteer at the recent Fort Campbell Christmas tree lighting ceremony. “I look forward to the pageant in June,” Shircel said. “I will do my best to represent Fort Campbell and Montgomery County well.”
