RESPONSE TO COVID-19 (May 20, 2020 – 12:47 PM)

Updated May 20th, 2020

Campus Administrative Operations:

Per the executive directive from the State of Connecticut, on May 20th businesses may begin reopening, this would include aspects of our administrative operations.

All admissions meetings are by appointment only. All individuals entering the building must wear a mask.

Campus Laboratory Operations:

In accordance with the Governor’s plan to reopen the state, we are targeting mid-June or July to slowly start allowing small groups of students on campus to complete their required laboratory competencies.

In an effort to keep students on track towards their expected graduation dates, we have started with students closer to the end of their program. We will continue to slowly introduce groups back into clinical settings over the coming months as it becomes safer at more facilities.

We will provide more information as we get closer to the end of the month but students and faculty alike should expect that requirements for entering the building will be strict, with each student or faculty member being screened every day.

Clinical/ Externships:

As a result of the Department of Public Health’s announcement, we will continue to slowly introduce groups back into clinical settings over the coming months as it becomes safer at more facilities. Our staff will reach out to the students that were in the progress of completing their externship, however please note that this process will take time.

Classroom Instruction:

We will continue to offer classes online. We intend to provide more clarity on the resumption of on-ground courses at the beginning of June.

Please be mindful that the course of the pandemic cannot be confidently predicted. It is entirely possible that even if conditions warranting reopening are met in June, a new wave of infections after the reopening of business and commerce might strain hospital capacity by late August. We ask for students to be patient and plan to follow the guidelines given by the Department of Public Health and CDC.
