Patient Care Technician Training in CT

Patient Care Technician Training Program

Program Detail

This is a 4 month certificate program designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a Patient Care Technician by first attaining to meet or exceed the standards for the state’s nursing aide license. As a patient care technician (PCT), students will have daily hands-on experiences with patients by helping them with procedures such as taking vital signs, performing electrocardiography (ECG), blood draws, and other needs.

Program Objective

The objective of the PCT program is to prepare students for entry-level patient care technician jobs as well as equip them with the skills and knowledge required to assist in direct patient care.

Clinical Externship

In the end, this course will provide the student with hands-on experience to practice the skills learned in a long-term care center in the observation of a clinical instructor. Externships allow students to develop skills and allow them to make connections with working professionals.

AIHT has clinical affiliations with numerous healthcare facilities where students will be placed at one or more of these affiliated sites and must complete their clinical hours based on the schedule provided by the school. Students are not permitted to begin the internship until all required classroom and lab hours are completed.

Patient Care Technician Responsibilities

There are 3 key responsibilities that a PCT is expected to focus on. Those are assisting with patients, drawing blood, and performing electrocardiographic testing.
